February Playlist

fullsizerenderOh February. So short, but a rollcoaster of emotions. First of all, I got to fly to Georgia and spend a week with my best friend. At this same time last year, she told me she was moving from our home state of Massachusetts down there and it was/is devastating to me. But while I was there, we got to chill, shop, laugh at everyone getting snow back home while we popped over to Chick-Fil-A in 70 degree weather, watch a shit ton of Sons of Anarchy with her husband (I’ve seen it, they hadn’t, which is always fun), and wrangle her three little kids – Adele (who told me the day before I left that she “wished today could last forever”), Hudson (who is recently potty trained and brought out his training toilet full of, um, surprises and said, “Ta da!”), and Wyatt (who tore my heart out when he didn’t remember me on arrival and shied away, but was running to me and cuddling within the first four hours). I spent Valentine’s Day in an airport and on a plane, flying home, and then the evening watching movies. February also brought my birthday, which, I can’t lie, sucked. My family tried to be there for me, but it was the first birthday where I didn’t have a single friend in town to celebrate with, so I spent a majority of the day in bed and tears. I KNOW, BREAK OUT THE VIOLINS.

What didn’t suck was the music this month! Ohhhh myyyyy gooooosh. So many of my favorites released new music. John Mayer released another EP. Amy Lee, Nick Jonas, All Time Low, and Lana Del Rey all released new songs. And Chord Overstreet released “Hold On.” I first heard this song from a fan vid someone took of him singing it acoustically and immediately fell in love with everything about it, especially the lyrics. At the beginning of the month, he finally released a studio version of it and if you haven’t heard it yet, you need to. Need. To.
